Oak-Aged Negroni: Barrel-Aged Elegance in Stainless Steel 🥃✨

Take the classic Negroni to a whole new level with an oak-aged twist that adds rich complexity to this timeless cocktail.

The magic happens when these ingredients are aged with a medium-toasted oak spiral in a stainless steel keg, infusing the cocktail with warm, smoky oak notes and subtle layers of caramel and vanilla.

Expect the bitterness of Campari to mellow and integrate beautifully with the wood’s depth, while the vermouth gains a rounder, silkier sweetness.

The gin ties it all together with its botanicals, resulting in a perfectly balanced Negroni that’s robust, smooth, and unforgettable.

Ingredients:

  • Campari
  • Sweet Red Vermouth (we used Dolin Rouge Vermouth de Chambery)
  • Gin (we used Hayman’s Old Tom Gin)
  • Oak spiral (for aging - we used a Medium Toast American Oak Infusion Spiral)
  • Orange peel (for garnish)

Oak-Aged Negroni

Small Batch (2.25L) ~76 fl. oz. (~25 x 3 fl. oz. Negronis)

  • 1 x 750ml bottle of Campari
  • 1 x 750ml bottle of Sweet Red Vermouth
  • 1 x 750ml bottle of Gin
  • 1 Oak Spiral (for aging)

Large Batch (9L) ~304 fl. oz. (~101 x 3 fl. oz. Negronis)

  • 4 x 750ml bottles of Campari
  • 4 x 750ml bottles of Sweet Red Vermouth
  • 4 x 750ml bottles of Gin
  • 4 Oak Spirals (for aging)

*Scale up or down, it's a 1:1:1 ratio to suit your needs :)

To make:

  • Pour the quantities into your clean keg. Stir gently with a clean spoon to mix well.
  • Add your oak spiral(s)
  • Place the lid on your keg, connect your CO₂ setting your regulator at 5 psi.
  • Purge out the oxygen in your keg by lifting the release ring for 2-3 seconds (letting the CO₂ push out the air). Repeat 2 more times.

Consuming right away? Can't wait to age it or want a taste to see how it'll change? Connect your tap and serve into a glass with ice and garnish with an orange peel.
Preparing in advance? Before aging, release (almost) all the pressure out of the keg using the release ring after disconnecting from your CO₂. This prevents your Negroni from becoming carbonated.

Perfect for impressing guests at a dinner party or enjoying as a personal craft project, this cocktail is an exploration of flavor and refinement. Age your Negroni to perfection—patience never tasted so good! Cheers!
